team of the WEEK

-

THE MTN8 quarterfinals produced some fascinating clashes with some players standing out enough to be selected for our team of the week. But this week’s selection also takes into account the midweek Absa Premiership matches, where Bidvest Wits’ Deon Hotto as well as Xola Mlambo of Orlando Pirates were pretty impressive. In the knockout competition at the weekend, Mamelodi Sundowns shone brightly before they left for Morocco where they will take on Wydad Casablanca in the Champions League. The Brazilians got the better of their hoodoo team Golden Arrows thanks to the efforts of Wayne Arendse in defence as well as newboy Lyle Lakay, who has fitted into the team seamlessly at leftback.

Cape Town City’s Tarriq Fielies is a member of our three-man defence in our 3-5-2 formation that we went for given the number of midfielders who were pretty impressive this week.

Anyone who watched the action this past week will agree that Themba Zwane, Thabo Nodada, Xola Mlambo and Siphelele Ntshangase as well as Hotto are deserving of a place in the best side of the week.

Up front we rely on Khama Billiat and Evans Rusike.
