What it costs to look like Kim Kardashian

- Latoya Newman

KIM Kardashian, popular celebrity and also queen of the “Brazilian Butt”/hourglass figure look, has always denied having work done on her voluptuous bottom and barbie doll-like waistline.

Each time she was accused of removing a rib or two and having a butt lift, Kardashian dug her stilettos in and maintained that it is all natural.

This even after a report in the Daily Mail last year where the man said to have treated Kardashian, cosmetic surgeon Dr Aardon Rollins, reportedly said her bottom was surgically enhanced by taking fat from her waist and putting it into her butt (a “Brazilian Butt Lift”).

A fact that can’t be denied, however, is that the Kardashian “look” is a popular trend with fans trying to emulate the star’s look.

Last June, Australian news site www.news.com. au reported on a local model, Jennifer Pamplona, who spent A$240 000 (R2.5 million) on surgery to look like Kardashian.

The report said Pamplona’s surgeries and procedures included butt implants, four ribs removed, breast implants, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), liposuction, cheek fillers, lips fillers, veneers, fat injection to thighs. We shopped around and found some local rates. Here’s an idea of what you could be looking at paying for some Kim K basics. But these estimates are minus consultation fees.

Also important to note is that these estimates are based on practices who revealed their charges on their websites or via a search engine.

Some clinics and doctors request and e-mail or a call for pricing queries:

● Liposuction: Ranging from R25 000 to just over R60 000.

● Fat transfer (Moving fat from one section of the body to the other): in the region of R14 500 to R50 000.

● Brazilian bum lift (enhancing the butt with your own fat tissue like from lipo): In the region of R60 000 to R70 000.

● Butt implants (similar to breast implants): in the region of R60 000.

● Breast Implants: ranging from R40 000 to R60 000. You can look into costs specific to your cosmetic surgery desires via the internet, although some surgeons don’t disclose their costs on the websites and you may need to email or call in for a consult. A helpful search engine is www.whatclinic.com, search plastic surgeon South Africa.

You should always verify if a doctor you consult is qualified to perform respective procedures. You can do this via:

● The Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons of Southern Africa (aprassa.co.za).

● The Aesthetic and Anti-ageing Medicine Society of SA (www.aestheticdoctors.co.za).

● The Health Professions Council of SA (www.hpcsa.co.za).
