Super opportunity to reach out to homeless people

- DANNY OOSTNUIZEN masekind321@gmail.com

I NOW understand why some people have things such as a weekly planner, a diary and a to-do list. My life is written on pieces of paper, even though I have a large collection of notepads and a desk calendar. If I really wanted to look like a pro, Google calendar is just a click away. I had to understand that the more productive you want to be, the more you have to network but that requires more planning. Without planning, it will be chaos. I am not in a space where I can say everything is in order but I come across as efficient. Like Vogue editorin-chief Anna Wintour said: “If you don’t know, fake it!”

I have settled in nicely in my new hood. My room looks like a walk-in wardrobe; like a jetsetter who is living out of bags and cases. I am working on cupboard and railing space to hang my stuff. Then, of course, the other obstacle is the fact that I have Champagne ideas but Drink-O-Pop money. If you have a cupboard or rail you no longer use…

On October 10, people from across the world will mark World Homeless Day to draw attention to the needs of homeless people and provide opportunities for the community to get involved.

The slogan for the day is “Locals act locally on a global day”. The emphasis is on giving hands-on aid that is sensitive to local needs while being aware of the global problem and feeling solidarity with other charity workers across the world.

You can celebrate by helping to raise awareness for the homeless in your community. The Dignity Project will link with the Department of Social Development at The Space in Culemborg for a full-day event. The community is welcome to join us.

For those who would like to contribute, please call me at 021 488 4748. As you read this, you are holding in your hands a newly designed Cape Argus. The paper is dynamic and it adapts to local and international trends, without losing its authentic local spirit.

Through this, I have come to realise how important team effort is to create a masterpiece. It is fitting that its arrival coincides with spring – new beginnings and a fresh life.
