A night of world-class choral music
THE internationally acclaimed SA Youth Choir (SAYC) will give guests a night of world-class choral music on Saturday.
The Norval Foundation, a centre for art and cultural expression, will be hosting the event in Gallery 8 of the museum as part of its Norval Foundation Concert Programme. The night promises an impressive performance, with the option of a three-course dinner before the show.
The SAYC comprises 54 exceedingly talented high school pupils and students aged 13 to 25 from across South Africa. The members represent the country’s diverse cultures and the choir celebrates unity within cultural diversity. Since its inception in 2005, the choir has performed both at home and on international stages.
Norval says the aim of the concert is to bring the very best musicians into an intimate, creative space.
“The vision for the programme is to create an entirely unique experience... where an eclectic collection of music genres blends in effortlessly with a unique museum and gallery experience”.
The programme consists of a vibrant mix of concerts, performances, talks and interviews, and will not only feature the best South African classical, jazz, rock, folk, contemporary and electronic musicians, but also some of the world’s best touring musicians.
The Norval Foundation is situated in Steenberg Road, Tokai. The Skotnes Restaurant and Bar, a bespoke shop and a children’s playground are just a few facilities visitors will find.
Tickets cost R500 for the show, including dinner, and R200, excluding dinner. The dinner commences at 6pm and the concert at 8.30pm.
