EXPOSE BULLYING TACTICS OF PROVINCIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

- BRIAN ISAACS Lansdowne

ONCE again I wish to raise the issue of the modus operandi of the Labour Relations Department (LRD) of the Western Cape Education Department (WCED).

This department acts as the bulldog section of WCED. It constantly wages war against teachers.

I approached many principals, teachers and administrative staff who have been unfairly treated by WCED to mention their cases and names in this article. They refused because they were afraid that there would be repercussions from WCED.

A commission of enquiry should be instituted to investigate the modus operandi of the Labour Relations Department. Are we first going to wait another 10 years before the brutality and vindictiveness of WCED is exposed. Most of the in-service employees of WCED are afraid to speak out. Teachers should speak truth to power. Evil flourishes when good people do nothing. Teachers were bullied by the apartheid system and now in the province teachers are being threatened again.

WCED has shown in the past that any teacher, principal and staff who speaks out against WCED will be harshly dealt with. This is the reason I write this letter – to expose the bullying tactics of WCED. Something needs to be done now. The public must support the teachers and staff against the vindictiveness of WCED. This letter is also addressed to activist organisations outside Parliament and political parties (especially the DA, which runs WCED) in Parliament who should know how rotten WCED has become.

WCED tried to bully me politically, but they can never and will never control my mind.
