Help root out corruption: heed Zondo’s call

-

ON WEDNESDAY, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo repeated his plea to the public to come forward with information that could help the state capture commission in its quest to uncover corruption in the government.

This time around, Zondo, who is chairing the commission, also issued a stern warning to senior officials in the state who have information that can help, but are not coming forward.

Zondo, rightly so, pointed out that there must be a “lot” of senior officials in government departments, National Assembly and in the National Council of Provinces who have information that can help the commission to get to the bottom of the allegations of state capture and root out graft in the government.

“I need everybody to know that just because we have been inviting them to come forward – this doesn’t mean if they don’t come forward this commission will not get to know what some of them know,” Zondo warned.

It is no secret that there were many good men and women in our government who disapproved of the looting that has been happening in the state, especially during the last 10 years of former president Jacob Zuma’s tenure.

Now is the time for you, comrades, to come out and set the record straight.

Now is the time to tell it all, in the interest of saving the nation from descending into further trouble.

It is time for those with information that shows the large-scale stealing of state resources to go to Zondo, and ensure that the perpetrators face the music.

There is no doubt that it will be for the good of this country for the Zondo commission to succeed and be saved from being yet another whitewash that won’t lead to anyone being held accountable.

The men and women who will heed Zondo’s call will be doing this country and humanity a great service.

Corruption and state capture are the biggest problems facing not only this country, but the whole African continent post-independence and colonialism.

The men and women who will heed this call will be doing this country and humanity a great service
