NKOSINGIPHILE GUMEDE has been flawless in the past three matches for Lamontville Golden Arrows and his stellar performances has earned him a place in our team of the week. On Wednesday, Gumede, was instrumental for Abafana Bes’thende as they played out to 0-0 stalemate against Orlando Pirates in Soweto.
The Cato Manor-born goal-minder followed that with another decent display on Sunday when Arrows defeated Black Leopards 1-0 in KwaMashu. Gumede is leading our defence which is made up of Siyanda Xulu, Sammy Motloung, Lucky Mokoena and Divine Lunga.
Xulu has been colossal for Maritzburg United in their run of five games on the trot without conceding a goal.
His leadership skills, and ability to start play from the back, have been second to none. Xulu is partnering Motloung who worked his socks off on Saturday as Polokwane City displayed a resolute performance at the back to keep the likes of Khama Billiat and Lebogang Manyama at bay as they stunned Kaizer Chiefs in Durban. He was also good against SuperSport United when they shared the spoils midweek.
Arrows’ Lunga did well to keep Vincent Pule quiet against Pirates on Wednesday at left-back and was at his level best going forward as they beat Leopards.
Thabo Nodada retains his place in the middle of the park. Nodada, as well as Jabulani Maluleke, have been two of the most consistent performers this season.
Siboniso Conco is an exciting prospect, and is playing with a lot of confidence on the wing for Arrows. He created the winner for Knox Mutizwa against Leopards.
Upfront Augustine Mulenga and Simon Murray lead the attack. Wits hitman, Murray, was sensational against Cape Town City midweek as he notched up a brace. He missed good opportunities against Sundowns but is proving to be a good signing.
