Booze poisoning killed Amy, inquest rules

-

A second inquest into the death of troubled British singer Amy Winehouse confirmed yesterday that she died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

The same verdict was given at a re-hearing of the inquest, ordered after it emerged that the first, in October last year, was heard by a coroner who did not have the correct qualifications.

Grammy-award winner Winehouse, 27, was found dead at her London home on July 23, 2011 after years of drug and alcohol addiction. She had 416mg of alcohol per decilitre of blood in her body. Coroner Shirley Radcliffe said she died of “alcohol toxicity”.
