IMPROVISED theatre fun returns with Wordplay - Inspired Improv by Megan Furniss, Tandi Buchan, Ryan Jales, Leon Clingman, Brett Fish Andersson, Ardine Fick, David Luyt and Ashley Peter.

Wordplay (play-on-words) is often defined as “a literary technique and a form of wit in which the words that are used become the main subject of the work, primarily for the purpose of intended effect or amusement.” ImproGuise, (Cape town’s oldest, awardwinning improv troupe, best known for their brilliant off the cuff performances), now bring another innovative piece of theatre in which they will use your favourite words as inspiration - be it from poems, plays, books or even made up magnetic fridge poetry. They will play with your words.

Buchan is currently the Artistic Director of Improguise. After graduating from UCT drama school in 1995, she joined TheatreSports under the direction of Furniss, and has been playing and teaching since. She is an established actress and voice over artist. In 1999 she moved to London and in 2001 she co -founded Two Foot rule’ an improv company performing a show called Off the cuff in Battersea.

After completing her drama degree and diploma at UCT in 1986, Furniss has been involved in theatre of all kinds, specialising in writing, performing and directing her own creations. She writes plays, stories and a blog www. meganshead.co.za. In 2011 her play The Tent was selected to be part of a programme of African plays at the National Theatre Studio in London. She has also published a book called Margie and the green starlight.

In 2009 Furniss won two coveted Fleur du Cap awards, for Innovation in Theatre and The People’s Choice Award for TheatreSports.

Clingman’s New York theatre credits include Blues for Mr Charlie, Julius Caesar and The Mischievous Machinations of Scapin. His local theatre credits include The Graduate, Three Sisters, The Tent, Line and I am Hamlet, which won the 2013 Fleur du Cap People’s Choice award.
