O’Donnell takes Trump feud to his front door

-

MERYL Streep might not be vying for the title, but it looks like Rosie O’Donnell is maintaining her title of President Donald Trump’s antagoniser in chief.

The comedienne, taking her long-running feud with Trump to his front door, was to headline a protest outside the White House just before Trump’s address to Congress for the first time since taking office.

Organisers said the event – billed as a rally and address – was expected to draw thousands. Sponsors include Food & Water Watch, ACLU, MoveOn. org Civic Action, National Nurses United, Hip Hop Caucus, DailyKos and Our Revolution.

In a debate last year with presidential rival Hillary Clinton, Trump launched into a strange aside about Rosie O’Donnell, acknowledging that he had in the past said mean things about her (Trump had called her a “loser” and “fat”). “I think everyone would agree that she deserves it, and nobody feels sorry for her,” Trump said from the debate stage.

Meanwhile, O’Donnell has kept up a steady and sometimes unprintable line of commentary on Twitter about Trump. On Monday, she replied to a message from someone organising a “blackout” of Trump’s scheduled speech which is akin to a State of the Union address: “Watch the protest b4 – in front of the White House.”

The organisers say the rally is intended to inform the president that “his agenda does not represent the values of the American people” and will include speakers from groups “impacted and harmed by the Trump Administration’s policies, including women, people of colour, and members of the LGBTQ community, as well as environmental and immigrants’ rights groups.” – The Washington Post
