Mom pleads for 13-year-old daughter’s safe return
THE search for the missing 13-year-old Rene Tracy Romans from St Montague Village in Lavender Hill continues.
Romans was last seen by a friend at 1.45pm on Friday in Lavender Hill itself.
The missing girl’s mother, Chrissandre Jacobs, has pleaded for her daughter’s safe return: “We just would like her to come home. Whoever has her, why don’t they bring her home? We even went so far as to put out a reward on Facebook so that someone could bring her back. I just want her safely back home.”
On Sunday, provincial police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana issued a notice requesting the public’s help to trace Romans.
The slender-built, longhaired Romans wore black tights and a sleeveless pink top with slip-on sandals when she disappeared, said Rwexana.
When asked yesterday morning for an update of the search, Rwexana said “the missing 13-year-old Rene Tracy Romans is still (being) sought.”
A prayer vigil was held at her parents’ home on Sunday afternoon, said Beverley Cerff of the Southern Eye Neighbourhood Watch.
“We had pastors from different religious denominations pray for her safe return. We also had councillors Marita Petersen and Shanon Rossouw and another new councillor.”
Yesterday, a massive community-assisted manhunt spearheaded by Lavender Hill’s Philisa Abafazi Bethu was launched for Romans.
The hunt started at the Village Heights informal settlement in Seawinds, spreading into the surrounding bushy areas, said Cerff.
At about 4.45 pm yesterday Philisa Abafazi Bethu director Lucinda Evans said: “We came from the bush (now). There was an incident. The police have called me to the police station.”
