ENGLISH is part of our colonial legacy, if we like it or not! I cannot believe that such a fuss was made when Premier Helen Zille said the legacy of colonialism was not only negative!

To call it racism is absurd! We must admit that there are some positive things that we got from our colonial past, like the English language, our sport, judiciary etc, as well as some negative things, which she does not dispute by using “only negative”.

This is a well-orchestrated effort by the ANC and other political parties to promote their own agenda. Unfortunately, the media can also be blamed for taking her statement out of context and demanding her resignation! Henrie Smith Welgemoed
