Four drops of Vanilla for that feel-good edge

- Staff Reporter

THE Vanilla is a 4-piece feelgood pop band from the northern suburbs.

The band consists of Tyan Odendal on guitar and lead vocals, Jaen-Pierre Dowling on bass, Francois Keyser on drums and Barthlo Visagie on lead guitar and synth.

Since they launched in March 2015, the band has been building a recognisable brand within the South African music industry.

They have performed with some of SA’s biggest bands and played at prestigious events around the country.

Their previous single, Out of Here won a Bok Radio award for song of the year and their latest single, Canopies is doing well on the country’s major radio stations.

The Vanilla’s new single Sally has been submitted to radio.

The band commissioned Dolf Willemse – producer and bassist for Francois van Coke – to produce a few singles for them. Using a home recording set-up, Willemse and the band tracked and recorded the single over two days.

Willemse returned to his studio in Potchefstroom to mix the song, and Rogan Kelsey mastered the track.

Odendal says, “We are very excited about the new single release. We have had great feedback and airplay for our two previous singles, especially The Sun’s Tide.”

The Sun’s Tide reached number one on the PUK FM93.6 Local Top 30 and also featured on MFM’s top five most requested songs of the week.
