New corporate golf tournament

SUN INTERNATIO­NAL has expanded its already extensive golf offering with the introducti­on of a major new corporate team golf tournament that will make its debut at Sun City this year. Sun Internatio­nal and pan-African ICT service provider Seacom will present the inaugural Corporate Masters in partnershi­p with Ian Smith, who is well-known in South African sporting circles. Smith formerly served as the chief executive of Tennis South Africa and also as Cricket South Africa’s commercial and financial director. He was also the driving force behind the 2003 Cricket World Cup which was hosted by South Africa. The Corporate Masters will tee off at Sun City from August 28 to 30 and aims to become the premier corporate golf tournament in South Africa. Companies will be represente­d by teams of two golfers competing in a 36-hole Stableford competitio­n at Sun City’s two championsh­ip layouts, at the Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City Golf Course. According to Rob Collins, chief operating officer of Sun Internatio­nal, the Corporate Masters completes Sun Internatio­nal’s exposure to every major sector of South African golf. – ANA
