Zuma must go asap

- Muhammad Omar Durban North

WITH the victory of the IFP, the elimination of the NFP and the humiliation of the ANC in Nquthu, a rural area, no one would take notice but for the recent election.

Compounding this is the Cosatu ban and implementing a ruling that Zuma and his acolytes will not be permitted to speak at Cosatu events henceforth.

Further, though minor, is the loss of Beaufort West to the DA.

Even Ramaphosa’s campaigning was of no help against the IFP in Nquthu. The IFP had really done well and recovered thanks to the IFP’s good strategy and Zuma’s dithering.

Zuma had laid claim to losing lots of metros and cities to the opposition but could firmly claim that he had brought the IFP to its knees with the help of the NFP. Further, many IFP councils became ANC-run areas.

This is now challenged and would probably impact and hurt the ANC in the national elections much harder. These areas are literally voting ATMs for the ANC.

Once more it shows as a politician Zuma has lost his grip and is unable to read the tea leaves. As for the ANC, but for him giving another sad story, many should seriously start considering that continuing with Zuma will mean fewer and fewer votes and fewer career opportunities for ANC members.

Now it is more evident that Zuma’s presence is a greater liability to the ANC and that he should exit as soon as possible.
