Shooting suspect in court

A 25-year-old man made a brief appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder, in connection with a shooting at popular Camps Bay nightclub, Café Caprice.

A statement yesterday from the Hawks said Jordan Fabe was allegedly linked to the shooting at the club on April 17, where two people sustained gunshot wounds.

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Unit took over the investigation after the incident was linked to the alleged club scene turf war in the province and arrested Fabe on Friday.

Provincial Head of the Hawks Brigadier Neil Oliver commended the unit for the breakthrough in the case.

“We have noted with concern reports of clubs’ underworld activities. We will not tolerate any lawlessness. This arrest is a demonstration of our stand,” Oliver said.

The shooting at the nightclub happened when an unknown number of gunmen wounded two men, after they stormed into the venue and fired shots indiscriminately before fleeing.

Fabe’s arrest comes after that of Naeem Harris, 21, in connection with a shooting that took place outside Coco Bar, in Loop Street, on May 5. Harris appeared in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court in September for the incident, where a DJ and a patron were wounded.

The incidents are reportedly linked to a club security turf war in Cape Town. Fabe remains in custody and will return to court on October 9, on charges of attempted murder. – Staff Writer
