City should expect the fight of their lives against Baroka in TKO, says Ngoma

JOHANNESBURG: Aubrey Ngoma reckons that Cape Town City should brace themselves for the fight of their lives, if they are going to see themselves overcome Baroka FC in this year’s Telkom Knockout when these two sides meet in the Round of 16.

“Baroka are having the time of their lives at the moment,” Ngoma said.

“They haven’t lost a single match in their league campaign so far this season and so, I believe, that it’s going to be a very interesting fixture for both of us.

“We, as Cape Town City, are always looking forward to playing them in Polokwane because we have a whole lot of good memories playing there. I know that the gents as well, are also looking forward to continuing with the very same form we have shown by producing winning results there.”

Ngoma, who was speaking at the official Telkom Knockout draw in Johannesburg yesterday, also stated that he was disappointed that his side was unable to come out victorious against their former coach, Eric Tinkler, after SuperSport United were crowned this year’s MTN8 champions in Durban this past weekend.

However the pacy winger believes that the defeat was nothing but a “learning curve” for the City, adding also that he hopes they’ll only grow from it.

“Sure we’ve lost in the MTN8 final, but I believe that it was a learning curve for all of us here at the club,” said Ngoma, who has started having light training sessions with the team following his return from a knee injury he suffered earlier on in the year.

“We should have done a few things differently in that game, I believe. But having said that; going into this year’s Telkom KO competition, we are going to make sure that we do not repeat the same mistakes (as they look to defend their TKO title this season).

“I’ve started with light training sessions with the team and so far so good. I’m also hoping to (be) back in action in a few weeks or so, hopefully feature in a few games or so before the Christmas break. But yes, we’ll have to wait and see.”
