Multiple award-winning author Stacey Fru, 10, will launch her books at St Joseph’s Marist School in Cape Town today.
AGED 10, multiple awardwinning author Stacy Fru’s goal is to equip South African children with education to make their dreams a reality.
Stacy, who is on a Cape Town tour, will launch her books at St Joseph’s Marist College today.
Stacey spent four months writing her second book, Bob and the Snake. Wits University vice-chancellor Adam Habib has written the foreword.
Stacy, from Johannesburg, won the 2016 National Development Agency Award for best early childhood education publication in 2015 for her first book Smelly Cats.
She wrote an illustrated the 108-page Smelly Cats without her parents’ knowledge at the age of 7.
She completed work on her second book Bob and the Snake aged 8, and before she turned 9, she had accumulated three awards.
“I am very excited to be launching my books in Cape Town. I am also excited to be in a different environment and meeting different people, and also to see the way people think in different parts of the country.
“I am also excited to see other children. My goal is to make every African child further their education because we need education in Africa especially in South Africa,” said stacy, who has written a total of seven books.
Her mother Victorine Mbong Shu, who is also an author, and said: “What stands out about her is her strong will; her ability to know what she wants and go for it.
“I would like to see Stacy where she personally would want to be.
“It is difficult to say where you want to see your children – especially her path.
“Her path is not what we chose for her.
“I would just want to see her influencing more people, particularly children.”
