SA band and +LIVE+ to rock city

- Staff Writer

FORMED in Cape Town, The Sweet Resistance have seen three singles off their debut album playlisted on 5FM this year.

Feel was at No 1 on the 5FM SA Top30 and the follow-up Captivated went straight to No 1 on the Top 10 at 10. They received critical acclaim after opening for The Pixies in Johannesburg this year.

“We’ve been blessed with an incredible 2017 – and now to wrap it up by touring with +LIVE+ is a dream come true” says lead singer Tash Meister.

Presented by AMP Events, the show promises to feature all the highlights from +LIVE+’s incredible 25-year repertoire.

+LIVE+ will be the first international musical act to grace the new stage at the opening of Sun International’s Sun Arena at Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria. They’ll perform there on November 10 and 11 and at Cape Town’s GrandWest Grand Arena on November 7.

“+LIVE+ is one of the greatest alternative rock acts of our time and their fan base here in South Africa is second to none,” says AMP chief executive Andy Mac. “All three shows are almost sold out! Now with the inclusion of the Sweet Resistance we’re in for an incredible tour”.

The original line-up of +LIVE+ – Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion) recently reunited for this worldwide tour.

This year will mark the anniversary of their debut album Mental Jewelry, which was released on December 31, 1991.

Tickets cost R495 to R795. See www.computicket.com
