Cycle challenge

-

ORGANISED by SANParks Honorary Rangers in conjunction with the Pedal Power Association and the Langebaan Country Estate, the ever-popular Langebaan Country Estate Cycle Challenge (November 11) and Mountain Bike Fun Ride (November 12) are now open for entries.

The field is limited and the closing date for entries is November 9, so keen cyclists need to enter soon online at www.LCEcyclechallenge.co.za or www.racetec.co.za.

The proceeds from the various events will go to the West Coast National Park.

Registration and late entries can be completed at the clubhouse lounge at the Langebaan Country Estate (LCE) on Friday, November 10 from 3pm to 7pm, or on the morning of the events from 6am at the marquee on the LCE driving range.

For the roadies, the LCE Cycle Challenge on November 11 offers an 80km (starting at 7am) and a 30km route (starting at 07.45am).

The mountain bike rides on Sunday, November 12 include an intermediate 18km course (starting at 7am on a route laid out within the LCE – watch out for the bontebok!) and a 38km ride (starting at 8am and heading down a short tar road into the West Coast National Park MTB tracks).

Both routes include some challenging climbs and panoramic views of the Langebaan Lagoon.

The magnificent 450-hectare LCE boasts a wide range of activities for noncycling friends and family members.

Visit their website at www.LCE.co.za for more information.

The West Coast National Park will be closed for traffic for the duration of the fun rides. Spectators and supporters will be able to enjoy the music, food stalls, kiddies play areas and beer tent at the LCE driving range while waiting for the participants.
