Approved sites for fireworks
THE City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security Directorate has approved 12 sites for using fireworks during this year’s Guy Fawkes and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
With Guy Fawkes traditionally commemorated on November 5, law enforcement, Fire and Rescue, and the Disaster Risk Management Centre will be involved in discharging fireworks for the public at: Athlone Stadium Wesfleur Sports field Bishop Lavis Sports field

Strandfontein Pavilion In terms of Section 30 of the Explosives Act of 1956, the public are warned of the following fines:
The use of any building fireworks in and public
thoroughfare – a R200 fine.
Selling fireworks to a child or anyone under the age of 16 – a R300 fine.
Allowing a person under the age of 16 to handle fireworks without adult supervision –
a R300 fine. To date, law enforcement officers have confiscated over 2 500 units of fireworks.
