Alleged paedophile’s case put on hold

- Chevon Booysen

THE case against a German national, who stands accused of eight sexual assault charges and one count of rape, was postponed in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Andreas Wolf, who is currently out on R200 000 bail, appeared briefly in court yesterday when magistrate Vincent Ketye postponed the case for final remand and further investigation until April 6 next year.

Court proceedings were halted when prosecutor Ticey Coerecius said the State was still waiting for annexures to be added to Wolf ’s charge sheet.

Wolf ’s defence attorney told the court that Wolf ’s driving licence, passport and other documents had not been returned to him, as was previously ordered by the court. “Since it was ordered that Wolf ’s documents be returned, the investigating officer has not been co-operating. Wolf is still not in possession of his driving licence. He also needs his passport, as it is close to expiring and he needs to have it renewed.”

Ketye told him that he should have informed the court sooner that the documents were not returned. “I tried to solve the problem in a civil way and went to the station commander but nothing came of it,” he said.

Coerecius said the State was not in a position to order the return of the passport yet and could do so at Wolf ’s next appearance.

Wolf is accused of sexually assaulting children from an informal settlement.

He stands accused of sexual exploitation, sexual assault, exposing children to pornography and raping an 11-year-old boy from Faure in Eersteriver.

The accused allegedly groomed young boys so that he could assault them at his Somerset West home. Wolf also coaxed the boys into masturbating and performing oral sex on him, Ketye said.

In August, it was alleged that Wolf had groomed the 11-year-old boy to lure other children to his home where he would molest them.

Previously State prosecutor, Nathan Adriaanse, reading an affidavit said: “Numerous victims have been identified and these incidents occurred over a period of time. The first victim reported the case during 2016 and he was 12 at the time.”
