- Staff Writer

AWARD-winning DJ and producer Heavy K starts the new year with a single S’phum’ elokshini featuring celebrated Durban vocalist Mondli Ngcobo. This track follows the massive success of his song, Inde, which features vocals from Bucie and Nokwazi.

Heavy K, born Mkhululi Siqula, is not only known for his impressive decks-skills but is a celebrated, prolific music producer who has played on various big stages across Africa and Europe.

His song Siphum’ elokshini featuring Mondli is testament to his consistent and impressive work ethic, which has won him many awards.

The song is about embracing the township as home to many, but more so, a song about hardships and overcoming those hardships. It is a song many people can relate to.

A festive wonder that ranked more than two million views on YouTube within two months of release, Inde is a beautiful, melodic tune with nuances of melancholy.

Soothing vocals from Bucie, then Nokwazi emerges with her captivating, traditional signature sound, completing the song’s dance feel which Heavy K brings to life.

The Port-Elizabeth born star has enjoyed mountainous success throughout his career with hit songs he produced and featured on, the likes of Wena, Lento, Easy To Love with artists such as Somizi, Mpumi, Oskido, Busiswa, Ringo, Speedy and Professor among others.

These popular songs follow the release of his last album 1950 which paid tribute to his late mother.

He is the owner of independent record label Drumboss Musik.

Sphum’ elokshini and Inde are available for download on all digital platforms.
