Signs of a rebirth

-

THE 106th ANC celebrations in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Stadium was a signal of the rebirth of the party.

The leadership displayed during the celebrations, more especially the Eastern Cape provincial leadership led by Oscar Mabuyane, needs to be appreciated and applauded.

The forces of division have been dealt a fatal blow. It’s tough luck to those who have been using the ANC to advance their selfish interests. The ANC is tired of thieves within and bishops of factionalism who use divide and rule systems to remain in power.

During this past weekend what made me proud was a visit by ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa, ANC NEC members Malusi Gigaba, Thoko Xasa and Mabuyane to the Mzwanele Fazzie branch and ultimately to our icon, grandmother Mama Fazzie, who indeed sacrificed her sons.

It’s a painful situation at Fazzie’s branch and indeed her family is neglected. This is the only branch under-developed in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality… even the house of Mama Fazzie is in an extremely dire condition with too many shacks around.

Indeed, the ANC president and provincial chairperson observed that, which is a sign of hope. It’s of high concern that our mayor was not present during the visit.

This branch has many fallen heroes and heroines who sacrificed themselves to achieve this democracy.

It’s the only branch neglected by Buffalo City, ranging from fixing potholes, employment of its youth, removal of squatter camps, but with the leadership of Mabuyane there is hope.

Mama Fazzie needs to be honoured by ensuring that what her sons died for is achieved. I’m calling on this newly elected PEC to again visit this branch and see its deep suffering, as well as honouring Mama Fazzie.

My last call to the PEC its to act on continual factionalism and crippling ill-discipline, more especially in Buffalo City (Dr WB Rubusana region) in honour of those who died for this democracy, such as Fazzie’s sons, Leon Meyer (all from the Mzwanele Fazzie branch), Cliffie Brown and others.
