Water leak woes

ON SUNDAY, February 4, we detected a water leak on the stop-cock of the municipal water meter outside our property at 26 Hanbury Avenue, Lansdowne.

The water meter number is 617539. We duly notified the Municipal Water Affairs and Forestry Department. We were given the request number 9104716841.

On the following Saturday, after nothing had yet been done to stop the leak, we tried contacting this department. This was extremely difficult to do on their apparently very busy shared call number.

After waiting for more than 15 minutes, we eventually got through to a lady called Peggy, and she promised that her senior management would call us.

I am still waiting for that call. The matter has still not been attended to and the leak on the stop-cock continues.

To say the least, this is shocking, particularly in the light of an imminent Day Zero. RG Govender
