City handled it well

-

THE article under the headline “Zero Day Zero” (March 8) is unfairly biased against our City administration.

In fact their handling of the drought and its consequences was very good in the circumstances that prevailed at that time. When it became evident that we were in for a very serious water shortage they instituted stricter and stricter measures to alleviate the situation.

After the lack of rain in December and January we were faced with a situation whereby they might be forced to shut off the supply to most consumers altogether, which would have led to great hardship to many groups within the city.

By the end of February, the citizens of the city and other users of our water resources had done enough to save this situation at least for the time being.

As soon as this was evident it was announced and made public knowledge.

What more can you expect of the City management?

We must however not relax our water saving measures. If by some freak weather we have another bad year in succession we need to start the next summer with the dams as full as possible. Also the other water resources now being installed must be working and be controlled efficiently, as soon as possible. CG Schmidt Helderberg Village action in terms of such categories.

Second, rectifying limiting thinking and action in terms of such categories. And yet we want to effect non-racism or anti-racism.

While the biologist tells us members of the species homo sapiens, “you are not members of different races”, I wonder whose categories of race we entrenched in the constitution.

As a single species in monologue with itself, why do we think the land question is still a single species issue? Glenville Wyngaard Bredasdorp
