Two child killer accused seek bail

- Chevon Booysen

TWO MEN accused of the murder of seven-yearold Ezra Daniels will make a bail application at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court when they appear today.

Ikeraam Bianchi and Marlon Neehuis are two of five people accused of the murder of Ezra on September 3 last year.

Ezra was hit in the neck while playing outside when a single shot, which killed the Parkwood boy on the scene, was fired from a car carrying five occupants. It was previously submitted by State prosecutor Helene Booysen that Ezra was killed when shots were fired at a rival gang member in Abdulla Moosa Walk in Parkwood.

His murder was met with outrage from the community who have called for no bail to be given to the accused killers.

The day Ezra was killed, Parkwood residents protested in Abdulla Moosa Road, damaging two police vehicles and injuring two police officers at the scene.

Booysen previously said the State would oppose bail for the accused.

Two additional charges – possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition – were added to the charge sheet.

Parkwood residents also handed in a petition of 210 signatures to Booysen, calling for no bail to be granted to any of the accused.

Ezra was shot metres away from where another child, Jayden Boltman, was killed in February 2016 in a gang-related crossfire shooting.

Jayden also died on the scene after he ran for cover in his parent’s home.
