BRITAIN’S most successful reggae band, UB40, is back in Cape Town at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, on May 15 as part of their Ali, Astro & Mickey 25th Anniversary South African Tour.

The three UB40 members, Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, will perform as part of an 11-piece band. Fans can expect to hear all the classic hits like Red Red Wine, Kingston Town, Can’t Help Falling in Love and many more.

This tour has taken the band to North and South America, Nigeria, Dubai, Europe and Papua New Guinea. They also performed to soldout arenas in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Campbell said: “We’ve had an outstanding three years on the road. In America, we’re playing huge venues that we last visited 20 years ago.”

Real music pioneers, UB40 formed in 1979. After taking a break, the band reformed in 2013 and have been at the top of their game since then, developing into a formidable touring outfit.

In 2014 they released a critically acclaimed top 10 album, Silhouette, and have plans to release a new studio album later this year.

“UB40 is an old favourite among so many South Africans,” said Elouise Matthys, PR and promotions manager at GrandWest.

“Their songs are iconic and extra special as they formed part of the soundtrack of so many people’s youth.”

UB40 play at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on May 15. Tickets are on sale at Computicket from R460. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8.30pm.
