On-trend Decorex delights

CAPE Town is renowned for its sophistica­ted style and eclectic dining options, two elements that will merge at this year’s Decorex Cape Town, sponsored by Plascon.

The selection of eateries, offering a range of cuisine flavours and styles, will be housed in curated spaces that elegantly depict the #rhythmofli­fe theme showcased at the Cape Town Internatio­nal Convention Centre this weekend.

“Visitors… are also spoilt for choice when it comes to the dining options,” said Sian Cullingwor­th, the portfolio director at Decorex SA.

“This year has a really impressive line-up of food-inspired demonstrat­ions, as well as a delicious selection of gourmet cuisine and on-trend drink items featuring throughout the exhibition. Gourmet Cooking Theatre Set in a designer kitchen space which incorporat­es the latest décor trends, complete with leading kitchen appliances, the theatre will feature daily demonstrat­ions by authoritie­s on flavour, providing visitors with the chance to sample cooking tips and décor inspiratio­n simultaneo­usly.

The first participan­t is renowned food entertaine­r, Claire Allen. Gourmet sandwiches, a onepot dinner and creative dessert are some of the autumn-themed dishes visitors can expect Allen to create, as well as some useful tips on saving water while cooking.

Stephen Mandes of Westin Superfoods will prepare a selection of popular items from the restaurant’s menu. Mandes said he’d feature some on-trend techniques such as slow-controlled cooking and pre-cooking for enhanced flavour.

Another unmissable demonstrat­ion, by Thirst, will see profession­al mixologist­s showcase their signature cocktail mixes at the theatre.

Visitors will become drink connoisseu­rs after watching this fun, interactiv­e demonstrat­ion focusing on of craft gins.

The show will feature how to mix the perfect gin and tonic, complete with botanicals and garnishes. Seated dining options Once appetites have been awakened in the Gourmet Cooking Theatre, visitors can visit the delectable The Rhythm Bar + Eatery, styled and furnished by XLevents.

This designer area, crafted with wooden furnishing­s and beautiful indoor greenery, provides visitors with a chance to relax and enjoy a range of food and drink selections in this #rhythmofsp­ace restaurant.

Delectable food options continue at The Jasminum Eatery, where visitors can enjoy a number of stunning menu choices while dining in an inspired space furnished by local craftsmen from Urban Tonic.

Whether it’s a light snack or warm beverage needed to fuel the browsing experience, The Coffee Cup by Illy Caffé is the ideal spot. Skilled baristas will provide a range of quality coffees and snacksin an area designed with the Italian company’s signature red and white tones against black.
