FEATURING over 200 of Cape Town’s best dancers and dance crews, Cape Town’s Most Wanted returns to the Artscape to wow audiences.

Presented by the Artscape Theatre Centre in association with the Dance Project, Cape Town’s Most Wanted has grown in popularity each year and constantly brings new audiences to the Artscape with sold out performances.

“All the best crews get invited, the most wanted that people would like to see on stage, all in one night, in one show,” said production manager Cleo Notcutt.

Produced by The Dance Project and Triple C, it provides a platform for audiences to get to see the best of Cape Town’s hip hop dancers, choreographers and dance crews – from right across the city and beyond. Catch dance crews such as Untimitive, Basic Black, B2D, Paradigm, Shifters, Rebel Squad, JJDC and many more on stage.

“Cape Town’s Most Wanted started in 2009 in a small theatre. Created with the idea of letting all the best showcases of all the best dance crews in Cape Town be put on one stage in one night.

“Because a lot of competitions are run across the city, but not a lot of the general public come to watch competitions, it’s always just family and friends who are watching the dancers,” said Notcutt.

Over the years, the event has grown immensely and is currently in its fifth year at the Artscape.

The show runs on a support basis. Notcutt explained it as a platform for crews to come on board and supporters to support their crew.

“So as you walk in, a representative of each crew is sitting at a table at the front so you choose what crew you want to support and they get back 40% of each sale.”

This will be a showcase that puts the spotlight on dancers, with every crew getting to create their own piece and own lighting, while still working together to bring out the best.

Shows will take place at 7.30pm on June 7, 8 and 9 with an additional show at 2pm on the last day.

Tickets will be available at a cost of R100 directly from dance crews at the door, to support them as they will receive 40% of each sale.

Alternatively it can also be purchased at Computicket.

The event has grown immensely and is in its 5th year at Artscape
