Traffic rules ignored

-

CONTINUING the conversation about the absence of traffic officers on our roads, I have noticed that drivers in Hout Bay regularly blatantly disregard the rules of the road.

Taxis and non-commercial vehicles stop in the middle of traffic circles to pick up passengers.

They simply hoot back if one hoots at them.

Children and adults cross pedestrian crossings without looking left or right to see if vehicles are stopping.

Children as young as four simply run across them.

We watched in horror as a very young child, who was playing on the pavement near the Kronendal bus stop, fell on to the road and nearly rolled under a bus!

There should be marshals at the circle near the police station, which is the worst one.

I tried to report a drunk driver I had followed from Kirstenbosch into Valley Road. He could not stay on the road. I went to the police station and was informed that there were no traffic officers in Hout Bay.

The situation in Hout Bay requires urgent intervention by traffic officers. L Paxton Hout Bay
