Day 4 of search for pilot

-

A SEARCH by the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre (ARCC) for a 61-yearold pilot who went missing last week during a flight from Newcastle< KwaZuluNatal, entered the fourth day yesterday.

The ARCC was being assisted by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).

The aircraft was last known to be flying over the coastline in the Mabibi vicinity (between Lake Sibaya and Sodwana Bay).

ARCC has been keeping a vigil for the Foxbat Tricycle-Gear Ultra light aircraft, call sign ZUPCB, and as a precautionary measure will extend the vigil along the coastline to include as far as the NSRI stations in Port Alfred and Port Elizabeth, said NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.

A day after the pilot went missing, NSRI Richards Bay launched sea rescue craft to conduct an offshore search north of Richards Bay towards St Lucia.

The search extended up to 5 nautical miles offshore. – Staff Writer
