Mayor’s return good

- Abel Kiwit AIC city councillor

THE African Independent Congress (AIC) welcomes the decision taken by the Federal Legal Commission of the DA to drop the charges of collusion levelled against the mayor of George, Melvin Naik.

The decision was taken after it came to the fore that discussions took place between some councillors of the DA and other opposition parties to bring a change in government, in the absence of the mayor.

We are, however dismayed, that certain elements in council are now planning a motion of no confidence in the mayor.

This is nothing else but sour grapes of embittered persons, within the DA, that did not succeed in their dark and evil plans to unseat the mayor.

We are still awaiting arrests after the recent raids by the Hawks on both the offices of the mayor and municipal manager.

What happened to the so-called irrefutable proof ?

If the evidence was so genuine, then arrests should have been made a long time ago.

Our city bleeds, its citizens are in dire need of housing, job opportunities and service delivery. This is a shame.

This might spike public protests and disorder, as our people are already desperate.
