Pollard: It’s important Bulls produce performances worthy of their hard work

- Vata Ngobeni

PRETORIA: The Bulls will look to the same group of players that fell short in Singapore to do a better job in their last home game of the season against the Jaguares tomorrow.

It may be partly because Bulls coach John Mitchell probably has no more players to choose from after injuries depleted the cream of the crop in his squad, but the former All Black mentor is holding on to the hope that what is left of his team will look to redeem themselves in the remaining two matches of the season.

“That is all we have left,” joked Mitchell about scrapping at the bottom of the barrel for players.

“I think on a more serious note, with a number of guys coming back from not playing well, we are still in a bit of a pre-season. So to try and get any form of cohesion is important, so that is why it was important to get the same group out there.”

Springbok and Bulls flyhalf Handre Pollard believes it is important that they produce performances worthy of the hard work they have already put in this season and also with an eye on the Currie Cup, particularly for the fringe players.

With tomorrow’s encounter against the Jaguares and the derby against the Lions the only games left in their campaign, Pollard wants his team to be measured in their performances instead of solely focusing on results.

“We’ll just keep going with the process, we believe in the process. We haven’t gotten results but we have said since day one that we are not a results driven side.

“Of cause you want to win every game but you can’t. It is two weeks, two opportunities to get a couple of wins and the guys in good spirit before the Currie Cup, so it is a great opportunity,” Pollard said.
