A better future

-

CHINESE President Xi Jinping and Senegalese President Macky Sall held talks in Dakar on Saturday. Noting that he attached great importance to China-Africa ties, Xi said he felt strongly about the long-term friendship between China and Africa, and their common future.

The two sides were sincere partners on their path of development and natural allies in international affairs, Xi said, adding that China’s development would bring more opportunities to Africa, while Africa’s development would add momentum to China’s development.

In September, a summit of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (Focac) is to be held in Beijing to further China-Africa co-operation.

Senegal, Sall said, admired China’s development achievements and appreciated China’s precious support for Senegalese economic and social development and its implementation of a revitalisation plan. Senegal firmly adhered to the one-China policy, was committed to deepening the comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership with China, stood ready to enhance co-operation in areas such as infrastructure construction, water conservation, industrialisation, agricultural product processing, tourism, culture and sports, said Sall.

Senegal supported China’s Belt and Road Initiative and stood ready to vigorously participate in connectivity construction, Sall said, adding that his country appreciated China’s contribution to Africa’s peace and development.

Focac was a co-operative framework featuring inclusiveness, effectiveness and solidarity, established on the basis of practical co-operation, Sall said, vowing Senegal’s full support in strengthening it, deepening co-operation between China and Africa and establishing a China-Africa community with a shared future.
