HE HAD dreams of becoming a rapper in Cape Town and having his own album.

To fulfil this, Martin Ncube robbed and murdered his employer in Pringle Bay.

He confessed to the crimes he committed against 53-yearold Farah Thompson in August last year.

He is on trial in the Western Cape High Court.

His case has been postponed to later this month for a probation officer’s report.

Ncube, from Zimbabwe, smashed Thompson’s head, strangled and suffocated her.

He said in his plea that one day he arrived at the residence where he was employed and he “decided he wanted to rob her”.

“I had dreams of becoming a rap artist in Cape Town and having my own album.

“On that day I decided and planned to rob Ms Thompson but I did not know how I was going to do it,” Ncube said.

He then hatched a plan while he was in the bathroom.

“After using the toilet, I was on my way about to leave the main house and she was busy on her laptop.

“She stood up and accompanied me towards the main door to open it for me.

“As I was behind her I grabbed her around her neck and told her she should keep quiet, I did not want to hurt her, ” Ncube said.

He then taped Thompson’s mouth shut and chained her legs around a chair.

“I went downstairs to look for her handbag and took her bank cards and demanded the PIN,” he said.

Ncube then took Thompson’s laptop and tablet.

“I then went back to the toilet and I discovered she had managed to (remove the tape on her mouth) and she kept talking. Then I decided to use several scarves around her mouth, face and nose.

“I wanted to take the BMW but could not drive. I asked the deceased how to drive it but she did not respond,” he said.

When he was about to leave, Ncube said he knocked Thompson with artwork he attempted to steal but she did not move.

“I then hit her harder the second time around and there was blood on the artwork. I checked her heart beat but there was no response,” Ncube said. Ncube managed to get away with the car, and said he called his cousin.

“I managed to withdraw R2 000 when I was with my cousin’s brother.

“I drove to Hermanus and on my way I decided to accelerate the car in an attempt to take my life, because of what I did,” Ncube said.

He sustained facial injuries, and the car burnt out.

“I humbly ask for forgiveness from the family of the deceased person and my own family,” Ncube said in his plea.
