Bigots display foolish courage, endorsed by quiet majority

- Mfezeko Bunu Khayelitsha

RECENT racist, bigotry statements that were uttered by one dim-witted Adam Catzavelos are nothing new in this so-called rainbow nation of Nelson Mandela.

Stories of racist white South Africans are many, for example, a prominent black lawyer and businessman was recently assaulted by a white man in the North West, Vicki Momberg hurled racist insults at a black policeman who tried to assist her during a smash-and-grab incident she was involved in.

What is shocking to me is the foolish courage displayed by these bigots to post their obvious intolerance and disrespect for black people on social media platforms.

Instead of being angry and reactionary black people need to appreciate that these dullards represent a huge percentage of people who hate the black race.

The few who are caught with their pants down are brave enough to publicly express what the majority espouse and endorse but are scared to openly say it. Go to shopping malls, golf courses, boardrooms, restaurants, you will see total disgust and displeasure on white people’s faces when they see a black face.

If this was not the case, how else do you explain the stupid American president’s utterances, the refusal by AfriForum, white farmers and other rich whites who own big pieces of land to share this ill-gotten wealth with indigent indigenous people.

These people know fully well that when you purchase an item you get a receipt as proof of purchase but in this instance they know and appreciate that they can never produce any purchase receipts because this land was confiscated by their ancestors from black South Africans.

Wars like the Battle of the Blood River, the Xhosa War of Liberation, even the unnecessary Anglo-Boer War serve as proof that black people were robbed of their land, livestock, dignity and wealth.

Black people need to support and uplift each other by rallying around land expropriation without compensation, forming Black Broederbond, educating their children.

Black people need to accept that no race will respect and love them when they are still poor hence my advice is that the black race must empower themselves not only politically but more importantly economically.

I am equally disgusted by black people who do not support other black people but proudly distance themselves from their folk because of their circumstances.

Even though this will take long to achieve, this is a much better idea and initiative than expecting other races to honestly and truthfully love them.

However, truth be told there are white people who are not racist but who believe in what Sobukwe termed as “the human race”.
