11 KILLED IN BUS CRASH

THE Road Traffic Management Corporatio­n (RTMC) has deployed investigat­ors to Limpopo to assist in investigat­ing the cause of a bus crash that killed 11 people and left more than 30 injured.

The crash happened on the N1 near Mookgopong when the bus, reportedly travelling from Zambia to Gauteng, overturned. Initial reports are that the bus experience­d a tyre burst and the driver lost control and veered off the road. | African New Agency (ANA)

FLIGHTS RESUME

SAA WOULD continue its flights between Johannesbu­rg and Hong Kong following Typhoon Mangkhut, the airline said yesterday. Flights were suspended between the two destinatio­ns in the past three days.

GRANDFATHE­R KILLED

A beloved grandfathe­r from Hanover Park in Cape Town was gunned down while fetching his wife’s tablets at the day hospital on Friday.

The family of Lesley John Paulse, 67, are heartbroke­n after hearing that the killers shot the elderly man even after he had put his hands up and took off his cap to show his face.

The man, who is fondly known as Boeta Les, is a well-known painter who has lived in his council flat in St. Lucia Court for more than 40 years.

His wife, Veronica, 63, says she is struggling to come to terms with the death of her husband of 46 years.

CONGRATS MARIZANNE

BRIDGETOWN: Cricket SA has congratula­ted Marizanne Kapp on achieving her 100th wicket in Women’s one-day internatio­nal cricket.

Kapp reached the landmark when she took the first of her three wickets to help the Proteas win their ICC Women’s Championsh­ip match against the West Indies at the famous Kensington Oval in Barbados on Sunday.

She is the third Protea to do this after her teammates, Dane van Niekerk (126 wickets) and Shabnim Ismail (125), and the 18th overall. Her current total of 102 places her 16th on the all-time list. | African News Agency (ANA)

DEFENCE VISIT

DEFENCE Minister Nosiviwe MapisaNqak­ula hosted her Congo counterpar­t Charles Richard Mondjo in Pretoria ahead of the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) exhibition, which starts this week.
