ONE hundred pupils from Mitchells Plain, Langa and Khayelitsha will be given the opportunity to walk in Nelson Mandela’s footsteps and to learn about his life and legacy through a Cape Town Tourism (CTT) tour around the City on Sunday.

The initiative is part of CTT’s youth campaign for Tourism Month.

The campaign will see 100 children,10 members of CTT and two representatives from each youth club on one City Sightseeing bus.

The group will meet at the Two Oceans Aquarium, where they will go on an educational tour of the aquarium and enjoy morning snacks while taking in the marine life.

They will then be joined by a guide who will tell them about Robben Island and Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment there.

The group will then depart for Table Mountain with their guide, who will take the cable car with them and tell stories about Mandela’s life.

Lunch will be enjoyed on the City Sightseeing bus while the group drives past the newly unveiled statue of Nelson Mandela and takes in iconic sights of Cape Town on the mini Peninsula City Sightseeing tour.

Each of the students will receive a stationary pack to remember the day, branded with the Love Cape Town logo and an inspirational quote by Nelson Mandela.

They will also receive a handwritten note from the CTT team thanking them for taking part in the day.
