SON’S KILLING CHARGE
SIBUSISO Emmanuel Tshabalala, who fatally shot his 16-year-old son, Luyanda, will probably face a charge of culpable homicide, the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court heard yesterday.
The state said the defence lawyer Chewe Machaka made representations for and requested for the case to be postponed until November 6 for a plea and sentence agreement. Tshabalala is currently facing a charge of murder after he shot his son in Fred Norman Secondary School on June 5. | ANA

DESPITE Africa’s impressive growth in the past 25 years and its entry into the digital economy, its job market remains depressed with youth unemployment rising, the Africa lead for the UN Development Programme’s Open Innovation programme said yesterday.

‘SCAM ARTISTS’ ARRESTED
TWO men, aged 28 and 32, were arrested in Pinetown for allegedly stealing R1.8 million, police said yesterday.
Captain Nqobile Gwala said: “They were arrested following an investigation after a 57-year-old teacher was conned out of R1.8m by two men. Her boyfriend advised her to resign to start a business. When she got her pension payout, she gave it all to the boyfriend and his ally.

GRAFT CASE POSTPONED
THE multi-million rand graft case involving KwaZulu-Natal ANC deputy chairperson Mike Mabuyakhulu and others has been postponed until February 1, next year.
The former economic affairs MEC Mabuyakhulu and his co-accused appeared briefly in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court yesterday .

MTB’S KNOX IS BANNED
MOUNTAIN biker Max Knox has been found guilty of doping and received a 4-year ban from the SA Institute for DrugFree Sport (Saids).
Saids made the announcement yesterday, saying Knox was charged for suspicious variations in his athlete biological passport, which showed doping, and could not give a satisfactory explanation to the appointed panel of international experts.
The former SA Marathon MTB champion will be stripped of all his titles from June 16, 2015, and will have to return all prizes, money and medals since that date. | African News Agency (ANA)
2 SECURITY GUARDS SHOT
TWO security guards were shot and injured on Bushbuck Road in Shongweni, KwaZulu-Natal, yesterday.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, the first guard was found in a serious condition after being shot in the head. The second was shot in his left upper leg. Both are in their twenties, They were treated at the scene and taken to hospital.
