HAWKS OFFICER JAILED
A 39-YEAR-OLD Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) warrant officer has been found guilty of theft by the Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court after he pocketed cash during a raid last year.
Lucas Mosoane was sentenced to 18 months in jail, spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said yesterday. “Mosoane and colleagues were searching for drugs at a Phokeng home in 2017 when a colleague saw him putting R3 700, taken from a drawer, into his pocket.” | African News Agency (ANA)
KWAITO-HOUSE AWARDS
THE venue for 2018 Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards (MKHMA) has been announced: Carnival City.
“Fans of the only South African awards show that focuses solely on Kwaito and House are in for a treat at the Big Top Arena on November 24,” Carnival City said Thursday.
Kwaito musician DJ Sbu – who is also a social entrepreneur, club DJ and a former co-owner of one of the biggest record labels in South Africa – is the host for the awards evening.

NABBED FOR ROBBERY
FIVE people have been arrested after they were found in possession of unlicensed firearms stolen during a robbery at a Port Alfred gun shop.
Yesterday, Hawks spokesperson captain Lloyd Ramovha said the armed robbery happened last week.
“On October 18 suspects entered a gun shop on the pretext that they were customers. They tied them up before making off with various firearms and ammunition from the safe,” said Ramovha. | African News Agency (ANA)
YALI POWER GRADUATION
THE Young African Leaders Initiative (Yali) and Power Africa will host the first Young Women in African Power Graduation Ceremony today at Unisa in Pretoria.
Part of an initiative of former US president Barack Obama, the Yali programme provides training to young Africans in business, entrepreneurship development and governance, among others, to assist youth in developing leadership skills across business, civic leadership and other spheres of society.

SA STARS ADD THE HEAT
BRISBANE: Brisbane Heat have added two South African stars to their roster for the coming Rebel Women’s Big Bash League season, signing Suné Luus, pictured, and Laura Wolvaardt.
The league starts on December 1. Top-order batter Wolvaardt returns for her second summer Down Under and, this time the 19-year-old will be joined by Luus, who will be appearing in the Women’s Big Bash for the first time.
