STELLENBOSCH FC lead the National First Division heading into today’s home fixture with nearest rivals Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM FC) at Idas Valley Sports Ground.

The hosts (16 points) will be chasing a fifth straight victory, against an opponent from Limpopo who did the double over them last season.

Stellies coach Steve Barker says his boys are primed to deliver.

“They’ve been playing well and to win four straight games in a highly competitive competition takes some doing. There is no way we are going to relinquish top spot without an almighty fight and to battle it out with a formidable foe in front of our supporters bodes well for our chances,” said Barker.

“Our opponents are an attackminded lot with able strikers in the experienced David Zulu and Edward Manqele.

“But we’ve been doing the business in front of goals with Iqraam Rayners our main source of income with five of our 11 goals.”

TTM FC are one of seven teams to have led the league and last time out beat Mbombela to close the gap on Stellies to a point.

Third-placed Ajax Cape Town tomorrow visit seventh-placed Uthongathi at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

The Urban Warriors have it all to do after a disappointing last effort against winless basement dwellers Ubuntu Cape Town that ended goalless.

Ubuntu visit University of Pretoria on Sunday while the Mother City’s fourth NFD club, 12th-placed Cape Umoya United entertain Royal Eagles at Boland Stadium (kickoff 3.30pm).
