Solinas vows to turn Chiefs around

-

GIOVANNI Solinas is not going to throw in the towel at Kaizer Chiefs, and the Italian has vowed to turn things around at Naturena. Amakhosi will end another year without silverware after they were dumped out of the Telkom Knockout by their arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates this past weekend.

The embattled Solinas told the media after the game that he is not going to give up.

“We started the season with several goals and objectives. The first one was the MTN8, and now we have lost the opportunity of winning this cup,” he said. “We are now left with three chances for trophies. We have the PSL, Caf Confederation Cup and the Nedbank Cup. I will continue fighting, me, I don’t give up.

“We are Kaizer Chiefs and need to win trophies.”

Chiefs now have to shift their focus to the Caf Confederation Cup, and begin their campaign on Wednesday, when they lock horns with Zimamoto of Zanzibar.

“We need to continue to work hard because it is not always negative. Everyone at the club is unhappy. Everyone is feeling the pain but I repeat again, I don’t give up. This is a big club and they don’t deserve this situation,” Solinas said.

“I believe we can change this situation. We also have our plan for the market. I want to tell our supporters not to abandon the club. They must continue to believe in Kaizer Chiefs. I’m sure that in future Kaizer Chiefs will not disappoint. I work 10 hours every day. If that is not enough I will work 11 or 12 hours. I take full responsibility,” Solinas concluded.

As well as Chiefs missing out of the MTN8 and the Telkom Knockout. they are currently fifth on the log with 18 points after 13 games, while leaders Pirates have 23 points after the same number of games. With just over half the season remaining, Chiefs have to really work hard to contest for the league. – Minenhle Mkhize
