Cape art fair is Africa’s biggest

MORE than 100 galleries and exhibitors from around Africa and the world will take part in the upcoming Investec Cape Town Art Fair – making it the largest fair on the African continent.

In its 7th year, the fair is an important milestone and attraction for Cape Town, pushing the city as a cultural destinatio­n.

The fair will take place from February 15 – 17 at the Cape Town Internatio­nal Convention Centre.

The art fair is set to offer a unique cross-section of the art market, representi­ng the forefront of contempora­ry art globally.

About 18000 visitors, collectors, galleries, curators, artists and journalist­s from around the globe are expected in Cape Town to see work that represents the forefront of contempora­ry art.

An increasing­ly large contingent within the art fair is made up of prominent galleries based in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Local galleries and exhibitors will be showcasing at the art air and includes the Goodman Gallery, Stevenson, Everard Read Circa, Gallery Momo, Smac Gallery, Whatifthew­orld, Smith and Blank Projects.

Cape Town Art Fair director Laura Vincenti said, “showing of some of the foremost art galleries in the world, illustrate­s Cape Town’s ability to serve as a destinatio­n for internatio­nal galleries seeking access to a new market of enthusiast­ic collectors and insight into the region’s art scene, currently one of the fastest-growing in the world.”
