Big boost for Omegaview

- STAFF WRITER

THE Omegaview Community Project in Lavender Hill will be the beneficiaries of proceeds raised during a musical production set by A Little Baby Boy (LBB).

LBB is a musical production that is hosted every other year for charitable purposes.

It premiered in 2011 telling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The production is produced and performed by volunteers of the New Apostolic Church.

The project is driven by the selfless efforts of volunteers who make every endeavour to ensure the chosen beneficiaries gain maximum exposure, funding and sustainable support.

This year, the production will be in aid of Omegaview Community Project founded by John Nicholson in Hillview, Lavender Hill.

Nicholson won the South African Hero of the Year award in February.

Omegaview Community project incorporates a library and a soup kitchen in Lavender Hill and brings light and hope to residents.

The LLB donated R40000 towards the Rene Roman Library – named after a Levana Primary School pupil in Lavender Hill.

Rene was found in a shallow grave in a neighbour’s wendy house after being reported missing last year.

Through the arts of singing, dance, acting, visual media and orchestral performance, the musical maps out the events surrounding, and purpose of, Christ’s birth.

The mastermind behind the production, Rodger Hughes, wrote most of the music and also chose to incorporate familiar chorale works and other Christmas favourites.

This allows the performers to showcase a non-conventional take on the nativity through a variety of musical genres.

The production will take place over three days, on December14, 15 and 16, at 8pm.

Tickets cost R50 and can be purchased by contacting Kevin Williams at 082 430 0091 or Cheryl Beaton at 073 165 4409.
