Special needs schools receive donation
THREE Stellenbosch schools and an after-care centre have welcomed a clothing and sports gear donation, which includes T-shirts, caps, water bottles, shoelaces and drawstring bags.
Stillwater Sports made the donation to Bruckner de Villiers Primary School, Cloetesville Primary School, Dorothea Special School, as well as Aitsa After Care Centre.
Dorothea Special School principal Anthea Williams said the donation meant a lot at this time of the year.
“The donation just shows us once again that there are people who are sensitive towards people with disabilities. We teach our pupils to appreciate the small things because through the small things greater things are possible.”
Managing director at Stillwater Sports Michael Meyer said they could not use the gear as the logos or colour schemes have changed. “Each item is still new. It gives us great pleasure knowing that the event clothing and gear will be put to good use.”
Acting principal at Cloetesville Primary School Rodger Cupido said: “We have 702 pupils from Grade R to Grade 7. There are always things that our children need. The donation will definitely assist them and be put to good use.”
At Bruckner De Villiers Primary School, the goods will be shared with pupils who took part in sport activities during the year, department head Neil Johnson said. “The donation will assist with the training and development of these pupils. This is really a welcome Christmas gift.”
