THE BUILDING COMPANY IS BORN

STEINHOFF Doors and Building Materials, a subsidiary of Pepkor Holdings, formerly Steinhoff Africa Retail, has announced that it has changed its name to The Building Company, effective January 28. The company, whose subsidiaries include BUCO, Timbercity, Tiletoria and Brands 4 Africa, said that the new name reflected its mission and purpose of sourcing, distributing and retailing general and specialised building materials throughout southern Africa. Building Company chief executive Steve du Toit said the name would usher in a new era for the organisation. “Let’s continue to grow the company under a new name, and a bright new future. Here’s to The Building Company!” said Du Toit. He added that associated administrative changes would follow in due course and were expected to be completed by the end of this month. In November, the JSE fined Pepkor Holdings R5 million for breaching the local bourse’s listing requirements, with R1m suspended for two years.
