THE CURE TOURS SOUTH AFRICA
ALTERNATIVE rock icons, The Cure tour South Africa for the first time this week. They'll perform in Jo'burg on Saturday and then move on to Cape Town on Thursday, at the Kenilworth Racecourse.
The UK-based band, fronted by the enigmatic Robert Smith, is playing select events around the world as part of their 40-year anniversary tour.
Their performance this year forms part of the Rock on the Lawns festival which includes local artists Fokofpolisiekar, Ard Matthews, Karen Zoid, Zebra Giraffe, Opposite The Other, Southern Wild, Hellcats, Dimond Thug and The Robfather. Since 1978, The Cure have released over 37 singles including Friday I’m In Love, Lullaby, Close to Me, Love Song, Boys Don’t Cry, The Lovecats, Let’s Go To Bed, Just Like Heaven and more. Their critically acclaimed album Disintegration is considered one of the most important albums in music history.
