Lilliput Children’s Theatre presents ‘Red Riding Hood’

THE Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company will perform one of their most popular shows, Red Riding Hood, at the Nassau Theatre during the school holidays.

Red Riding Hood will run from June 26 until July 6 at 10.30am at the Nassau Theatre on the grounds of Groote Schuur High School.

The fairytale tells the story of a naughty little girl who disobeys her mother and, instead of taking the safe road to visit her granny, goes into the wood where she encounters a big bad wolf.

Red Riding Hood learns some important lessons along the way.

The show is filled with loads of audience participation and sing-along songs for kids to partake in and enjoy. The show is about 40 minutes long.

“The show follows the theme of `stranger danger’, teaching kids never to talk to strangers, in a fun engaging way. This is a kiddies’ story so we do not follow the traditional grim version where the wolf gets killed. In our story we have a happy ending and the wolf becomes a friend,” said director Elton John Duffy.

Red Riding Hood is adapted and directed by Duffy, who has been producing Children`s Theatre and delighting audiences for the past 26 years.

This show stars local talent including Niki Ricardo as Granny and Red Riding Hood’s mother, Dean Van Der Ventel as the Big Bad Wolf, Almar Müller as the woodcutter and Desle McConney as Red Riding Hood.
