RANGE ROVER EVOQUE CONVERTIBLE
R1 002 400
Jaguar Land Rover has been on a bit of a product offensive of late, with new models launched with regularity over the last few years. At the recent SA Festival of Motoring, the company pulled the covers from an entirely new product, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible. This is the fourth member of the Range Rover family and the first ever to feature a folding roof. Incidentally, this is also the world’s first luxury convertible SUV.
Based on the stylish Evoque, the Convertible is an off-roader for sun-seekers and seemingly ideal for those parts of the world where you are allowed to drive on the beach. The fully automated soft top can be tucked away in 18 seconds and raised in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 48 km/h.
The Evoque’s striking design traits remain, including the slim headlamps and chunky profile. Frameless doors provide the complete open-top experience for up to four occupants.
The luxurious cabin features all the modern conveniences expected of Range Rover, including an all-new, high-resolution 10,2-inch touchscreen with Jaguar Land Rover’s next-generation Incontrol Touch Pro infotainment system.
The Evoque Convertible HSE Dynamic is powered by the brand’s all-aluminium fourcylinder turbopetrol, which produces 177 kw and 340 N.m. It’s mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. As is befitting the brand, off-road capability is ensured via the Terrain Response all-wheel-drive control system that, along with Wade Sensing and All-terrain Progress Control, should make the Evoque a true go-anywhere soft-top.
